O serviço foi criado para suprir o fechamento da Delegacia Especializada da Mulher durante a noite, nos finais de semana e feriados, segundo a responsável pela Coordenadoria, Mara Regina Araújo.</FONT>

<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0px"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt"><FONT face=""> O Plantão Mulher funciona durante a noite na sede do SOS Criança, localizado na Rua Geraldo Ferreira, Jardim das Mangueiras. "O atendimento às mulheres vítimas da violência é prioridade absoluta da prefeitura de Porto Velho, que neste ano criou a Casa Abrigo, a primeira vinculada ao poder público em Rondônia", segundo a primeira dama do município, Lucilene Peixoto. Em decorrência da criação da Casa Abrigo, a prefeitura articulou a formação da Rede de Enfrentamento à Violência contra a Mulher, que reúne órgãos municipais e estaduais ligados à saúde, educação, justiça e assistência social para o acolhimento e encaminhamento de mulheres em situação de risco.</FONT>

<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0px"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: arial, helvetica, sans-serif"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt"><FONT face=""> Implantada em março deste ano, a Casa Abrigo oferece acolhimento para as mulheres durante 90 dias. Neste período, a Rede de Enfrentamento fica responsável pelos encaminhamentos necessários para assegurar a integridade da vítima. A acolhida na Casa só é feita em casos extremos, em última instância, quando não há outro recurso para o caso. A Rede também atua para a localização de vítimas da violência em escolas, postos de saúde e outros órgãos, por meio de um trabalho de sensibilização feito pela prefeitura.</FONT>

O órgão fez 860 atendimentos desde janeiro de 2009 até julho deste ano. "A procura pelos nossos serviços está aumentando em função da divulgação do Centro, um trabalho feito diariamente em escolas, igrejas, associações e outras instituições", segundo a diretora, Sheila Tristão.</FONT>
