<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">O ex-bancário Pedro Meyer, suspeito de estuprar várias</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial">, em Belo Horizonte, pode não responder por todas as acusações. De acordo com a assessoria do Tribunal de Justiça de Minas Gerais (TJMG), seis dos 11 inquéritos foram arquivados porque os crimes prescreveram. Os fatos ocorreram há mais de 16 anos - prazo previsto para prescrição de crimes envolvendo violência sexual. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">A estratégia da defesa de Meyer continua sendo a de negação de autoria dos estupros em série, ocorridos na década de 1990. Mesmo assim, o defensor pediu à Justiça que o ex-bancário seja submetido a exame de sanidade mental. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">Pedro Meyer foi detido no dia 28 de março deste ano, depois que uma das supostas vítimas o reconheceu no bairro Anchieta, na Região Centro-Sul da capital mineira. No início de abril, a polícia recolheu, na casa do suspeito, camisas, bonés, óculos escuros e recortes de jornais que reforçariam as provas apresentadas pelas testemunhas. Com base nos depoimentos, no dia 12 de abril, a polícia pediu a prisão preventiva dele. Desde então, Meyer está preso na penitenciária José Martinho Drumond, na Região Metropolitana de Belo Horizonte </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">Até o momento, Pedro Meyer responde a duas ações penais e, por enquanto, nenhuma audiência foi marcada. A previsão é que o suspeito aguarde julgamento preso. </FONT></P>
