<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">No mundo, uma em cada três</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial"> já foram agredidas. De acordo com estudo do Banco Mundial e do Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento, um em cada cinco dias de falta ao trabalho é causado pela violência sofrida pelas</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial"> dentro de suas casas. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">O Ministério Público do Maranhão, por meio das promotorias especializadas na defesa da mulher de São Luís, realiza hoje (24) o lançamento da campanha "Maria da Penha em Ação: prevenção da</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">violência doméstica</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial"> nas instituições de ensino". O evento começa às 9h no auditório da Sede da Procuradoria Geral de Justiça, na Rua Grande 1396, Centro. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">A campanha vai se concentrar nas escolas da rede estadual de ensino de São Luís, e os alunos participarão de um concurso de redação e desenho, com tema sobre a</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">Lei Maria da Penha</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial">. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">Segundo a promotora de justiça Selma Regina Souza Martins, titular da 16ª Promotoria Especializada na Defesa da Mulher, a ideia da campanha surgiu após a análise dos números sobre o índice de violência contra a mulher, que são alarmantes. "Identificou-se a necessidade de trabalhar a questão da formação de cidadãos mais consciente, por isso o foco nas instituições de ensino". </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">De acordo com a ONU, até 2001, antes da</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">Lei Maria da Penha</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial">, que entrou em vigor em 2006, 28</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial"> eram espancadas a cada dois minutos. Até 2012, seis anos após a aprovação da lei, esse número caiu para cinco</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Arial">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Arial"> espancadas a cada dois minutos.</FONT></P>
