<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">O governo federal, em parceria com o Conselho Nacional de Justiça (CNJ), lançou a campanha "Compromisso e Atitude pela</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Times New Roman">Lei Maria da Penha</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Times New Roman"> - A lei é mais forte" nas regiões Sudeste, Nordeste e Norte, com solenidades realizadas nas cidades que registram os índices mais elevados de violência contra a mulher. Em agosto, a campanha chegou à Vitória e nos últimos dias 12 e 19 a mobilização foi feita em Maceió e Belém. O lançamento da campanha no Centro-Oeste está marcado para 7 de dezembro, em Campo Grande. Na semana seguinte, no dia 14, será a vez da região Sul, em Curitiba.</FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">O Disque 180, central que recebe denúncias e oferece orientaçõea a</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Times New Roman">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">, registrou 47.555 atendimentos de relatos de violência contra a mulher no primeiro semestre deste ano. A maior parte, quase 27 mil casos, se refere a denúncias de violência física. Dados do Mapa da Violência 2012 mostram que 92 mil</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Times New Roman">mulheres</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Times New Roman"> foram assassinadas no Brasil nos últimos 30 anos, sendo 43,7 mil somente na última década. Os números apontam ainda que 68% dos crimes foram cometidos pelos cônjuges.</FONT><B></B></P>

<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">Sancionada pelo presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva em agosto de 2006, a Lei 11.340, batizada de</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Times New Roman">Lei Maria da Penha</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">, foi inspirada em uma biofarmacêutica cearense. Maria da Penha Maia Fernandes foi vítima de agressões físicas e psicológicas dentro de casa. Em 1983, seu então marido, um professor universitário colombiano, tentou matá-la por duas vezes: atirou contra a companheira e depois tentou eletrocutá-la. As agressões deixaram Penha paraplégica aos 38 anos de idade, e com três filhas para criar. Nove anos depois das agressões, o ex-marido foi condenado a oito anos de prisão, mas ficou na cadeia por apenas dois anos. Com mais de 60 anos, Penha hoje é um símbolo do combate à</FONT><B> <FONT FACE="Times New Roman">violência doméstica</FONT></B><FONT FACE="Times New Roman"> contra a mulher e lidera movimentos em defesa do direito da mulher. Sua luta foi reconhecida e apoiada por organismos internacionais. </FONT></P>
