<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">Registros de estupro aumentaram 168% em cinco anos no Brasil - de 15.351 em 2005 para 41.294 em 2010, ano mais recente das estatísticas compiladas pelo Fórum Brasileiro de Segurança Pública, apoiado pelo Ministério da Justiça, com base em ocorrências policiais e dados do Sistema Único de Saúde. Nos estados que mantêm informações recentes, a tendência desse crime sexual também aponta para aumento em 2013. No estado do Rio, o mês de janeiro fechou com 509 casos, 22 a mais que em janeiro do ano passado. São Paulo registrou 1.138, contra 944 em 2012. A falta de uma base nacional de dados oficiais, além de dificultar formulação de políticas de segurança pública, torna difícil a interpretação dos números. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman">"Sem padronização e registro sistemático, não sabemos se os estupros estão aumentando ou se a notificação está melhorando. O que podemos afirmar, sem medo de errar, é que as mulheres estão se conscientizando da importância de procurar a polícia", explica a delegada Ana Cristina Melo Santiago, chefe da Delegacia da Mulher no Distrito Federal. Um sistema nacional para centralizar as ocorrências policiais está sendo construído pelo Ministério da Justiça e deve ficar pronto até 2014. </FONT></P>
